Weeko Clip Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 7, 2026

Welcome to Weeko Clip (the "Software").

The Software is developed by Weeko Team ("we," "us," or "our") to provide a local, controllable, privacy-conscious clipboard history tool for macOS.

We value your privacy and follow a Local-First design principle:

Unless you actively submit feedback, logs, or sample content to us, Weeko Clip does not collect, upload, sell, or share your clipboard history. Your clipboard data is stored on your device by default.

This Privacy Policy explains how the Software handles data, system capabilities, and your privacy choices.

I. Data Processing Principles

1. Local data storage

Weeko Clip is a local macOS app that runs within the macOS App Sandbox. Data generated by the Software may include:

  • App settings;
  • User preferences;
  • Clipboard history;
  • Favorites;
  • Search indexes;
  • Image preview caches;
  • Link title and favicon caches;
  • Ignored app settings;
  • Local feature data.

This data is stored in the local app sandbox on your device. Unless you actively submit it to us or the law requires otherwise, it is not uploaded to our servers or transferred to unrelated third-party services.

2. No cloud sync

Weeko Clip currently does not provide cloud sync. The Software does not sync your clipboard history through:

  • iCloud;
  • Dropbox;
  • Google Drive;
  • Our servers;
  • Other third-party cloud storage services.

Your settings, history, favorites, and caches are managed locally by your device.

3. No active behavioral tracking

Weeko Clip does not include analytics services for tracking user behavior. Unless you actively submit feedback, logs, or diagnostic materials, we do not collect:

  • App usage duration;
  • Feature usage frequency;
  • Operation logs;
  • Clipboard content;
  • File content;
  • Folder content.

The Software does not perform advertising tracking, profiling, cross-app tracking, or background activity monitoring.

II. Feature Data Processing

1. Clipboard history

Weeko Clip provides clipboard history management. To provide this feature, the Software reads the system clipboard and saves eligible records locally according to your settings.

Supported display types include text, code, links, colors, images, files, folders, and file groups.

Clipboard data is used only to provide clipboard history, search, preview, favorites, and copying again to the clipboard. It is stored locally and is not uploaded to our servers.

Weeko Clip does not build user profiles from clipboard data, use clipboard data for advertising, or display recent copied content directly in the menu bar.

2. Files, folders, and images

Weeko Clip distinguishes inline clipboard images from file path references.

For inline images, the Software may cache image data locally for history, preview, save-as, and copying again to the clipboard.

For files, folders, image files, and file groups copied from Finder or other apps, the Software usually stores only local path references. It does not copy original files or folder contents. File groups record up to the first 100 item paths.

If an original file is moved, renamed, or deleted, Weeko Clip may retain only the historical path and cannot guarantee that the item can still be opened.

3. Link previews

Weeko Clip can recognize links and display them as link records.

The "fetch link title and favicon" feature is off by default. When it is off, the Software does not actively visit copied links to fetch titles or favicons.

If you enable this feature, the Software may asynchronously access relevant links to fetch page titles, favicons, and basic display information. The destination website may receive ordinary network request information such as IP address, request time, and network environment.

To reduce privacy risks, the Software attempts to skip local addresses, private network addresses, intranet addresses, and links with sensitive query parameters. This automatic detection is not 100% accurate.

4. Privacy controls

Weeko Clip provides privacy controls such as sensitive-content filtering, key and token filtering, card-number filtering, verification-code filtering, password-field filtering, pause recording, per-type recording toggles, and ignored apps.

These controls are auxiliary protections and may not identify sensitive content in every situation. You should still delete records, clear history, pause recording, or disable unnecessary recording types based on your own usage context.

5. Favorite backups

Weeko Clip supports exporting favorites as a zip file and importing favorites from a zip file.

Favorite backups may include text, code, links, colors, and inline images. For files, folders, and file groups, backups usually include path references only and do not copy original files.

You are responsible for storing and protecting backup files. If a backup contains sensitive content, keep it secure and do not share it with unrelated persons.

III. System Capabilities

1. Clipboard access

Used to read content copied to the system clipboard, save clipboard history according to your settings, and copy selected history items to the clipboard again.

2. File and folder access

Used to identify file and folder paths in the clipboard, display basic metadata, reveal items in Finder when you request it, and import or export favorite backups.

Weeko Clip does not copy original files or folder contents merely because it records paths.

3. Network access

Used to fetch link titles and favicons after you enable link metadata previews, and to process feedback or support requests you actively submit.

The link metadata preview feature is off by default.

IV. Information You Provide

If you contact us through in-app feedback, official email, App Store reviews, or support channels, you may provide contact information, issue descriptions, logs, screenshots, attachments, or clipboard examples related to the issue.

We use this information only to analyze issues, provide support, improve the Software, and respond to your request. Unless required by law, necessary to protect legitimate rights, or with your consent, we do not sell it, use it for advertising, or share it with unrelated third parties.

Please remove sensitive content before sending feedback.

V. Data Security and Protection

1. Data access limitations

Because Weeko Clip uses local storage, we cannot directly access your clipboard history, favorites, image caches, favicon caches, app settings, or user-created data unless you actively provide them through a feedback channel.

2. Data backup

Weeko Clip does not provide cloud backup. Data may not be recoverable if your device is damaged, the system is reinstalled, the disk fails, you delete local data, or a cleanup tool removes app data.

We recommend using Time Machine or another backup tool for important data. For important favorites, you can also use the favorite export feature.

VI. Data Deletion

You can delete data by deleting individual records, clearing recent history, deleting favorites, clearing preview caches, uninstalling the Software, or deleting local app data created by Weeko Clip.

macOS App Sandbox manages app data according to system rules, so storage locations may vary by system version, app configuration, and Software version.

Deleted local data may not be recoverable. Before deleting data, make sure you have retained or exported any important favorites you need.

VII. Privacy Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy based on feature changes, legal requirements, or privacy standards.

The updated version will be published on the official website or in the Software.

By continuing to use Weeko Clip, you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
