Weeko Focus Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 10, 2026

Welcome to Weeko Focus (hereinafter referred to as the "Software").

Developed by Weeko Team (hereinafter referred to as "we", "us", or "our"), this Software is a menu bar Pomodoro timer and focus management tool for macOS. We understand that your focus data, work tasks, and daily routines are deeply personal. Therefore, Weeko Focus is built upon a firm "Local-First" principle:

Unless you explicitly submit feedback or diagnostic emails to us, all focus logs, task records, preferences, and states generated by Weeko Focus are stored solely locally on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.

This Privacy Policy explains how Weeko Focus processes data locally, which features may require system privacy permissions, and how you can manage and delete your data.

1. Core Principles

1.1 Local-First

All core data in Weeko Focus is by default stored only locally on your Mac, including but not limited to:

  • Daily focus logs (start/end time, duration, status);
  • Historical focus records and statistics;
  • Configured task names;
  • Recent task lists;
  • Personalized settings for break and focus durations;
  • Global shortcuts and notification sound preferences.

Unless you actively submit information to us, complete purchase verification via Apple App Store, or as otherwise required by laws and regulations, we have absolutely no access to, nor can we retrieve or decrypt, these local data.

1.2 No Cloud Sync & No Account System

Weeko Focus has no backend account system and does not require you to register or log in. Currently, the Software does not provide native cross-device cloud synchronization features, nor does it secretly upload your data in the background to:

  • Weeko Team servers;
  • Any third-party data analysis (Analytics) platforms;
  • Any cloud storage services.

Focus logs are saved in JSON format locally within your Application Support directory. If you reinstall your system, switch to a new device, or delete application data without performing a manual backup, your historical records cannot be recovered.

1.3 No Behavioral Tracking & No User Profiling

Weeko Focus is purely a productivity tool. We will never use your task names, working hours, or break patterns for advertising, user profiling, or cross-app tracking. There are no third-party SDKs integrated into the app for collecting user behavioral data.

2. Processing Focus Data & Task Records

2.1 Focus Logs

When you complete a focus session or a break, Weeko Focus automatically records the relevant data locally. This data is used exclusively to provide you with local "Today's Statistics" (such as completion count, accumulated minutes) and "Recent Records" features, helping you review your workflow. You can view, export, or delete these JSON files locally at any time.

2.2 Recent Tasks

To help you quickly start working, Weeko Focus remembers the task names and their corresponding focus/break durations you recently used. These records are saved in the local UserDefaults provided by the system and are displayed in the "Recent Tasks" list within the menu bar.

2.3 Menu Bar Visibility

As a menu bar app, to provide a convenient information overview, the dropdown menu displays:

  • The current focus status and countdown;
  • The name of the currently executing task;
  • Today's completed Pomodoro count and focused minutes;
  • Your recent tasks list.

Please note that when presenting in public, sharing your screen, or recording your screen, information such as the task name displayed in the menu bar might be seen by others. You can use the built-in "Clear Recent Tasks" function to remove these visible records.

3. Immersive Break & Away Lock Screen

To provide a truly distraction-free deep work and break experience, Weeko Focus offers "Immersive Break" and "Away Lock Screen" features:

  • Immersive Break: Displays a full-screen aurora animation during breaks and hides the system Dock and menu bar to prevent visual distractions from other applications.
  • Away Lock Screen: Provides an app-level screen protection when you step away, pausing all countdowns and covering all displays. (Note: This feature provides app-level protection only. For long absences, it is recommended to use the system lock ⌃ + ⌘ + Q)
  • Secure Exit Mechanism: To prematurely end an immersive break or dismiss the away lock screen, the app requires you to long-press a button and perform Touch ID or password verification. (Note: This verification relies on your system security settings. If you haven't set a Mac login password, it cannot provide an effective access block)

Privacy Commitment: The above features only invoke macOS window level management and the local biometric API (LocalAuthentication). We DO NOT record your screen and DO NOT capture your desktop content. The biometric (fingerprint/password) verification is handled entirely securely on the local device by the underlying macOS system. Weeko Focus cannot access your fingerprint data or plain-text password.

4. Purchases, Subscriptions & Authorization Status

Weeko Focus may offer a free version and a Pro version (e.g., yearly subscription or lifetime purchase) via the App Store.

All purchases, refunds, subscription management, and payment receipts are processed entirely by the Apple App Store (StoreKit 2) and your Apple ID account system. We do not collect or store your bank card numbers, Apple ID passwords, or complete identity information. The app merely reads and verifies the purchase receipt from Apple locally to determine if you have unlocked Pro privileges.

5. System Integration & Permissions

To achieve a seamless workflow experience, Weeko Focus may request or utilize the following macOS system permissions or capabilities:

  1. Touch ID / Local Authentication: Used for securely exiting the away lock screen and immersive break. Verification is conducted solely locally.
  2. Notifications: Used to send banner notifications when a focus session or break ends. Please note that the notification content may include your currently set task name. If you are sharing your screen or are in a public place, the notification popup might be seen by others.
  3. Login Items: If enabled in settings, the app will automatically launch when you log into the system.
  4. Global Shortcuts: Used to quickly summon the focus panel or the away lock screen from any interface. This feature only listens to specific key combinations you have configured and absolutely does not record other keystrokes (it is not a keylogger).

The enablement of all the aforementioned permissions is entirely controlled by you in the system or application settings.

6. Information Proactively Provided by Users

If you encounter issues while using the app and proactively contact us via email (e.g., sending to support@weeko.net or hello@weeko.app), you may choose to include basic diagnostic information in your email to help us better locate and resolve the issue, such as:

  • macOS version;
  • Device model;
  • Weeko Focus app version;
  • Screenshots or descriptions of the issue.

This process is entirely initiated by you. Any contact information and diagnostic content you provide will only be used for providing technical support and improving the product, and will never be used for marketing purposes or shared with third parties. Before sending an email containing screenshots, please ensure you have removed any personal sensitive information you do not wish to disclose.

6.1 Apple Provided Crash Logs & Analytics

If you have actively selected "Share with App Developers" for analytics data in your macOS System Settings, Apple may provide us with anonymized crash logs or aggregated usage data via App Store Connect. This data is collected and de-identified entirely by Apple. It DOES NOT contain any personal information that can identify you, nor does it contain your specific task records. We solely use it to troubleshoot application stability issues.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

Because all data is stored locally, you have absolute control over your own data. You can manage and delete data through the following methods:

  • Click "Clear Recent Tasks" in the application menu;
  • Navigate to the ~/Library/Application Support/ directory, locate the Weeko Focus folder, and manually delete the JSON log files;
  • Remove related preferences or notification permissions in macOS "System Settings";
  • Move the application to the Trash to perform a complete uninstall.

Once local files are deleted, your focus history will be permanently lost and cannot be recovered.

8. Updates to the Privacy Policy

We may appropriately revise this Privacy Policy over time in accordance with the enrichment of product features, changes in laws and regulations, or Apple App Store review requirements.

Any updates will be announced on our official website or within the Software. Continuing to use Weeko Focus indicates that you agree to the updated Privacy Policy.
