Weeko Shot Privacy Policy

Weeko Shot (the "Software") is a local-first macOS screen capture utility developed by Weeko Team ("we," "us," or "our"). This Policy explains what the Software processes, when information may leave your Mac, and the controls available to you.

1. Local-first processing

Screen captures, annotations, recognized text, sampled colors, pinned images, recent-color history, image-library indexes, thumbnails, save locations, shortcuts, and preferences are processed and stored on your Mac. Weeko Shot has no Weeko account system and does not automatically upload this content to Weeko Team, provide cloud sync, or create a cloud backup.

2. Screen and file access

macOS requires Screen Recording permission to capture windows, displays, regions, scrolling content, screen text, and pixels for the color picker. Weeko Shot uses this access only to perform an action you initiate. It does not continuously record your screen for analytics or advertising. You can revoke access in System Settings; capture-dependent features will then stop working.

When you choose a save folder, import an image, manage a local screenshot library, reveal a file in Finder, or export an image, the Software accesses only locations you select or authorize. Saved images remain in those locations. The Software may keep security-scoped access needed to reopen an authorized folder. It does not scan unrelated folders.

3. Feature data

Text recognition currently runs locally. Recognized text is copied to the clipboard or shown in the Software and is not sent to us. Scrolling capture temporarily processes image segments and a stitched preview locally. Pinned images and annotations stay on the Mac until you copy, save, share, or delete them. PNG/JPEG output, quality, sounds, floating-thumbnail behavior, annotation defaults, and shortcuts are local settings.

The image library may read metadata and create local thumbnails for images in an authorized folder. Deleting an item through the Software may move the underlying file to Trash. Weeko Shot is not a backup or recovery service; you are responsible for copies you need to retain.

4. Feedback, diagnostics, and external services

Opening the feedback page may add Mac model, macOS version, app version/build, and interface language to the page URL. It does not automatically include screenshots, recognized text, colors, image-library contents, or app settings. Website hosting providers process ordinary connection data such as IP address, browser information, and time of access.

If you send email or feedback, we process the contact details, description, screenshots, attachments, or diagnostics you choose to provide only to respond, investigate, secure, and improve the Software. Remove sensitive screen content before sending it.

Apple processes App Store downloads, purchases, refunds, and entitlement information. If you enable Apple diagnostic sharing, Apple may provide crash reports or aggregated diagnostics through App Store Connect. We do not receive your Apple ID password or full payment credentials.

5. Advertising, sharing, and retention

Weeko Shot does not use captured content for advertising, cross-app tracking, or profiling, and does not sell it. Local content remains until you delete it, clear related history or caches, change the authorized folder, or remove the Software and its container according to macOS behavior. Information voluntarily sent to us is retained only as long as needed for support, security, legal obligations, and product improvement.

6. Your choices and security

You can revoke Screen Recording access, change or remove folder access, clear recent colors and local caches, delete screenshots, change shortcuts, or uninstall the Software. You may ask us to delete information you submitted by contacting support@weeko.net, subject to legal or security retention requirements.

No software or storage medium can guarantee absolute security. Protect your Mac account, backups, exported images, and any screenshot containing confidential or personal information.

7. Children, changes, and contact

Weeko Shot is a general utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly request personal information from children through the Software. We may update this Policy for feature, legal, or App Store changes and will revise the date above; material changes receive additional notice where required.
